Leaving The Spartans And The Land Of CCC

First things first, we all know what today is. It’s been a crazy week filled with last minute office party challenges and this past weekend I wasn’t feeling that well. Not excuses just some color … lets get the numbers out of the way:

Previous Weight (03/24/2010) — 302.6 lbs
Current Weight — 299.4 lbs
Change In Weight-3.2 lbs
Pounds From Milestone-0.6 lbs
Pounds Since 1/1/2010-45.6 lbs
Pounds Since 1/1/2009-90.6 lbs
PoundsSince 1/1/2000-150.6 lbs

Yes, you read it right … I finally broke the 300 pound barrier and here’s the picture to prove it.

My Weight at 299

It’s been over 16 years since I’ve been under 300 (CCC) pounds. I can’t explain how it feels this morning to see that number. I know I have a ways to go before I get near my goal weight of around 250 pounds but I’m elated right now. Heck even that goal weight is nebulous right now because I have no idea what my body will be like at 250, this is all new to me.

Just yesterday I noticed that I can sit on my leg while in an office chair. I’ve seen a lot of women and more flexible people do it but I’m 99% certain my legs never let me do that before, but yesterday I had the urge to and did. I got me some new moves baby!

Speaking of which did I mention I can do a few pushups now. I’m talking about real honest to goodness pushups with proper form, I swear! Add to that the fact that I can do most of the plank moves and bicycle crunches in my DVD’s now (with a lot of effort) and we have the makings of some serious fitness progress. It was only a month ago that these things were foreign to me and now they’re a part of my normal routine.

Another thing, all of my clothes are big on me, all of them. I literally have one work shirt, two workout shirts, and one pair of pants that fit me and I bought half of those two weeks ago. Even some of the shirts I found digging through my fat clothes tub are big on me now. As a result of reaching this goal I’m gifting myself a few new outfits this weekend, I think I’ve earned them.

Motivation

I wanted to take a second to mention my motivation this time around.

My Family Motivation

I think that the faces in those pictures speak for themselves. Every day I see them and think about being their father, playing with them, and being there for them as they get older. I’m thankful that I can do that now and with some gusto to boot.

I also wanted to take a second to thank my wife. Without her there is no way I would have been able to reach this milestone. With a new baby, a new job back in October, my app release at the end of 2009, and everything else I couldn’t have made it this far without her. She helps planning and cooking the meals every week and soon she’ll be my workout partner again. She also makes sure I have time each day to get my workouts in, she’s amazing.

I can’t wait to lose the next 50 lbs with her! Speaking of which …

Revised Goals

Given what I was able to attain in the first quarter of this year I think I need to revise my goals for the next 4 months. My next big goal date is my 36th birthday at the end of August.

I’ve been steadily losing about 3 lbs per week this year though at the beginning of the year I lost a lot more. In the past few months though 3 lbs has been about my average.

Factoring in life, the summer, losing less per week, having 21 weeks until the next big date, and a few mistakes I’m going to set the following goals:

06/30/2010 Goal — 275.0 lbs
08/28/2010 Goal — 250.0 lbs

You may (or may not) have noticed that that’s a significant revision to my previous birthday goal. Prior to today I had set a goal of 270 lbs. Why the revision you might ask?

I’m not trying to set myself up for failure, that much I can tell you. I really want to do everything I can to keep this momentum and motivation I have going right now. I think setting some aggressive goals that keep me accountable and excited will really help do just that.

If I can’t hit that immediate short term goal I’ll revise the other goal but until that point I’m driving it home guns a blazing.

Are you making your circumstances or are you a product of them?
