My First Healthy Giveaway
I wasn’t really planning on doing a giveaway for a while to be honest but most good things happen by accident and I think this is one of those things. I was relaxing on Saturday morning browsing the web trying to catch up on my blog reading backlog. I’ve been looking around for some new recipes for Eggplant or Squash and happened upon this tweet from David Grotto. Having never read his books I checked them both out on Amazon using their “Look Inside” feature and sure enough they not only looked interesting but had some yummy looking recipes as well.
I decided to grab the wife and kids and get out for a nice walk in downtown Naperville and pop in for his signing. While I did miss his initial talk I did get a chance to chat with him about healthy eating, his book, and my weight-loss. He was impressed by my losses (which made me feel really good) and I was shocked when he wanted to take a picture with me. I certainly wasn’t expecting to take a picture with anyone, as can be seen by my lack of shaving that morning. I think it turned out well though when I don’t shave I think my face looks bigger, but I digress.
Anyhow, while we were chatting I asked him if it was ok that I get an extra copy of each book signed for my health & fitness friends to pass along via my blog. He thought it was a great idea and signed each of them for me, see the picture on the right for details.
I don’t know what came over me but on the way there, the idea of a signed healthy food book seemed like a great thing to pass on to folks as a first give away. No sponsorships, no strings, and pure healthy … what more could you ask for? Just me sharing two good books with people who frequent my site.
It’s what was for dinner
I can’t give away something I haven’t tried right? No, I haven’t finished reading the books yet. I’ve done one better though, I made one of those recipes I alluded to above. I threw the smack down on the Eggplant & Tomato Cheesy Spaghetti recipe from the 101 Foods That Could Save Your Life book. Here are a few pictures from the meal.
It tasted really really good and I certainly know it wasn’t by cooking skills because they’re pretty much nonexistent. All I can hope is that all of the recipes taste this good, yumm.
The Giveaway
It’s gonna be a simple one folks. I’m giving away one signed copy of each of these paperback books by David Grotto:
Just drop a comment below between March 29th 2010 and midnight April 2nd 2010 to be entered for a chance to win one of the books. Only one book will be awarded per person and the first person chosen will pick their book, the second selected person will get the other book. It’s that simple.
Feel free to share this offer with anyone and everyone who you think might be interested. You can use the buttons below or just send an email with a link to this page.
Thanks and good luck!!!

Awesome idea for a giveaway Sean, they both look like great books. I know what you mean about not shaving and making your face look fatter – I felt the same way with my beard. At first, I kept my beard because it masked my fat face, but when I recently shaved it off, I discovered that my face looked much thinner afterward.

I think it’s funny that all of us guys (myself included) with the ability to grow facial hair use it to hide our fat mugs. Then when we shave it off, we get even bigger “oohs” and “aahs.” Works like a charm. Those books look neat Sean.

Excellent! I was just looking up “superfoods” because I want to challenge myself to get in as many as possible in one week! Thanks for the chance to win!
That recipe looks amazing! And such a treat for you to meet the author. He seems like a nice guy on twitter. Your story has validated that assumption.

I hope I win one of the books! That recipe looks amazing.
So I am requesting this one be made for me. :0) What a great experience. Looks like you were the highlight of Mr Grotto’s day in Naperville. I am hoping to win the cookbook so I can show my mom that there are OTHER superfoods besides BLUEBERRIES!!! She is in kind of a blueberry rut!!! HELP!!!
Wow, this seems awesome! I would totally go through and make the recipes, probably with my own twists but that 101 foods to save your life sounds really interesting. AWESOME idea for a give away.
*crosses fingers*
