Today I Will
Today I will eat perfectly and enjoy every moment of it. My body will thank me by giving me energy in spades and by allowing me to do new and interesting things I never before thought possible.
Today I will workout with maximum intensity and focus. I will make the mind muscle link during both concentric and eccentric phases of weight training. I will focus on breathing and keep my intensity at 100% during circuits so I’m constantly challenging my heart and body.
Today I will talk the talk and walk the walk. I will show my friends not only how focused I am but how focused they can become. Anyone can take control of their health and fitness if they really want to. Many say they do but few will every really truly push themselves. I will be there to inspire those who won’t and support those that do.
Today I will drink my two coffees with half & half and raw sugar because I have an addiction and more importantly I really enjoy it. I won’t beat myself up over the 200 calories I could eliminate. Instead I’ll work harder and appreciate that all of my hard work entitles me to these types of indulgences.
Today I will ignore the muffins at work, the candy at home, and the treats that are everywhere we go in today’s world. I don’t need nor want those things … Yes, I do indulge on planned free meals but today is not that day. I don’t feel anger or disappointment because of this. I don’t feel deprived or envious of others (well maybe a tiny bit of envy) who can consume massive quantities with little side effects. I earn my indulgences and appreciate them so much more after my hard work and exercise.
Today I will smile often and remain positive. I will think of all of the things I will do and have done along my journey. I will not dwell on the things I missed or failed at. I will focus on the possible and positive future instead of the impossible and often negative past.
Today I will envision my future goals and prepare for my impending journey. I will break down my dreams into achievable goals that challenge my mind and body.
Today I will blog because it allows me to share my thoughts, ideas, goals, and journey with anyone that’s interested or no one at all. No detail is too small or pedantic and no posting is to mundane. My journey has had many twists and turns but my direction has remained the same. Sharing this with others not only helps them to prepare for what’s ahead but helps me to appreciate where I’ve been.
Today I will hug my wife and kids and cherish every moment with them. Life is too short and I have been blessed with a healthy happy family that loves me for me. I won’t take them or my new healthier body for granted ever again.
What will you do today?

What a great post!! I’m at a point today where I am tired of measuring things out and preplanning meals…after reading your words of inspirtation I am reminded what it is all about!!
Today I will push myself just a little farther in my workout to get my mind involved as well as my muscles!!
I am with you on the coffee! I still have my 1 cup per day but I refuse to use artificial sweeteners or skimp on the cream. I would rather have it with ‘real’ cream/raw sugar and enjoy every drop. At least my body will recognize the ingredients in it.
Thank you for the great post today!!

I’m happy the post really resonated with you. It’s so easy to lose track of the why’s and to remember to give thanks.
I’m totally an all or nothing guy with the coffee. I have one latte per week but otherwise stick to my Americano with half & half and raw sugar. I’ve tried removing the cream but that only works with tea. It’s my mini daily treat
